Winter vacation in Obergurgl
Fun on the slopes & winter wonderland
It does not always have to go high up. Also around Obergurgl near the village there are numerous winter activities that make vacationers' hearts beat faster. Right next to the Appartementhotel Johannes is an ice skating rink, where curling is also offered. The beautiful natural toboggan run in Hochgurgl is a pleasure for young and old - especially the night tobogganing, which takes place once a week, is a real experience. Less racy, but at least as beautiful, is the cross-country skiing around Gurgl.
Both classic and skating trails are available. A special experience during your winter vacation is a snowshoe hike, for example through the Obergurgler Zirbenwald. Wade through meters of snow and enjoy the unique-idyllic nature experience. If you would like to do without skis & co. altogether for once, then a walk on the sunny winter hiking trails around Obergurgl is a good idea. Or you can use the pedestrian ticket of the mountain railroads and shift your walk to the skiing area. This is what a winter vacation for the whole family looks like.
Off the slopes
Gurgl also has a lot to offer off the groomed slopes. Easy slopes with powder snow invite you to freeride. Those who want to earn their turns first will find a true ski touring paradise around Obergurgl. Especially in spring, sunny skiing and sparkling firn descents are tempting. Thanks to the altitude, conditions are still perfect at the end of April. Caution is always advised on all tours off the secured slopes. A local guide is therefore a good companion.
